Marble Cake

For Natalie's third birthday, I had the urge to make a marbled birthday cake. There weren't marbled cake mixes at the store (kinda didn't really expect there to be), so I decided to just dive right in and try it with what I had as an idea to make one using boxed cake mixes. Turns out, it's pretty easy to do.

Marbled Cake

Ingredients:
2 different flavored boxed cake mixes
ingredients listed on boxes
9" round cake pans

Directions:
1.) Follow directions on cake boxes, mixing in two separate bowls. When it come time to pour batter into cake pans, pour 1/4 of one batter into a pan and 1/4 into the second. Then, pour 1/4 opposite flavors on top of the first.
2.) Pop cakes into oven. Pour rest of batters into cupcake pans, or other cake pans of your choice. When first cakes come out, put in next batch.
3.) Cool and then frost or freeze!

I chose to use a chocolate and white mix. They have the same cook time and temperature.
Mix in separate bowls and then pour just a little bit, about 1/4 of the batters, into cake pans.
Pour another 1/4 onto the opposite flavors.
Swirl together with a butter knife. Do not mix! Just gently drag the knife tip through to marble it.
Ta-da! After the cakes are cooled and you're ready to frost, put the opposite flavors touching. For example, if you used the white with marble swirl on the bottom, flip the chocolate with white upside down to place on top. Makes the marble effect a little better. :)
Also, you should still have half the batter left of both mixes, so you can make more cakes, or cupcakes!
Sadly, I cracked BOTH layers of the cake. :( The white with chocolate marble broke terribly, almost in three completely separate pieces! It made it a pain to frost, but my daughter still enjoyed her birthday cake. (Even though it went to completely fall and slide apart, ha ha.)

Still tastes good though!
